Presenting Denver Dance Festival | Denver Dance Photography

Denver is getting its very own Dance Festival next summer! Presenting Denver and The Newman Center are co-hosting the Presenting Denver Dance Festival. The Festival will take place in June of 2018 and I could not be more excited! As a Presenting Denver ambassador, I serve on the festival committee that is planning the two day event. I also get to serve as a photographer ambassador, alongside Amanda Tipton.

Here’s what Presenting Denver has to say about the festival.

“The 2018 Presenting Denver Dance Festival, co-presented by Presenting Denver and The Robert and Judi Newman Center for the Performing Arts, will be a compilation of world premieres by performing artists, dancers, and choreographers living in the state of Colorado. It will take place on June 23-24, 2018. Selected new works will be premiered in the Byron Theatre. There will be additional dance activities over the weekend and throughout the year. Tickets for the Presenting Denver Dance Festival go on sale November 6, 2017, on the Newman Center Presents website.”

I was just at the Newman Center for an event this morning and I was reminded of what a beautiful space it was. I cannot wait to see the festival hosted there!

In preparation for the announcement of the festival, Amanda, Leslie Merrill, a Presenting Denver videographer ambassador, and I did a photo shoot at the Exdo Event Center with local dancers. We photographed three sets of dancers, in stations. These images are from when Samba Colorado and Abby Bural came in for their photoshoots. Abby is a Jazz and Lyrical dancer and Samba Colorado is a Brazilian Dance company. Photographing everyone together was really fun. Together, they found a way to combine their styles and work together.

Dance by Design in the Santa Fe Arts District | Denver Dance Photographer

Once again, I am just blown away by all the amazing artists in this city. I love collaborating with all these creative minds for my Dance by Design project. It’s a collaborative, multi-shoot project involving local dancers, fashion designers, and locations around Denver.

For this shoot, ballerina Molly Klug wore two sets of jewelry by MKaltenbach in two different locations. This is part two of the shoot, in the Santa Fe Arts District with Molly wearing MKaltenbach’s Bone Squash Blossom necklace, along with turquoise earrings and a bunch of fun bracelets.

Part one took place in an amazing field of sunflowers. You have to see these photos!

Molly is in her second season with Colorado Ballet’s Studio Company and has been living in Denver for just over a year.

“Dance is first and foremost a way to express myself. I, and I think many dancers, find it so freeing to be able to express my emotions physically. I would also say that in many ways dance is a safe haven for me, in that it is familiar and I know that I can always have it with me if I choose to. I have been dancing for a very long time (started when I was 3) and so it has been a constant in my life for so many years.”

“Megan Kaltenbach started designing jewelry during her free time while she was a full-time model living in the Financial District in Lower Manhattan. In May of 2010 she started making necklaces to fulfill her love for fashion. She chose MKaltenbach for the name of her company to keep the legacy of her last name alive. Meg currently lives in Denver, CO with her husband, blogging and designing for MKaltenbach full time.”

This is part one of the shoot, in an amazing field of sunflowers with Molly wearing MKaltenbach’s Turquoise Lapel necklace, along with her Quartz Dream Catcher Earrings and a bunch of fun bracelets.

Molly is in her second season with Colorado Ballet’s Studio Company and has been living in Denver for just over a year.

“The city has a very down to earth and health conscience energy that I really enjoy and feel connected to through dance and working at the ballet. I also really enjoy the city’s connection to nature. I am originally from the Chicagoland area and so I am not used to being so close to nature and being able to experience it. I have taken a few trips to the mountains, which I really enjoyed, and it is a wonderful new experience for me.”
